The Ellen Lane Estate Vineyard lies near Forestville, within the Green Valley sub-zone of the Russian River Valley. Beloved for its complex Chardonnay, the site’s defining feature is its amphitheater-like shape, which generates a distinct microclimate. Here, cool air settles longer during the warm summer months, allowing our Chardonnay to ripen slowly and gently, developing its signature aromatics.

Ross Station Vineyard

Russian River Valley

The vineyard surrounds a historic Victorian home that was built in the late 1850s by the Ross family who grew grapes, apples, and peaches on the property before it became a bustling stagecoach station from 1904 to 1984. Later restored by Paul Hobbs, the farmhouse overlooks chardonnay vines rooted in the coastal influenced Green Valley sub-appellation of the Russian River Valley that is frequently blanketed by morning and evening fog.

The Katherine Lindsay Estate Vineyard is the home site of our winery and represents Paul Hobbs’ lifelong dream of cultivating his own vineyard. Discovered in 1998 and named in honor of Paul Hobbs’ great-grandmother, the site is tucked in the Laguna Ridge area of the Russian River Valley. With multiple exposures and a range of soil types, it is an ideal site for prismatic Pinot Noirs.

The site’s volcanic soils and cooling influence from the nearby San Pablo Bay allow all five Bordeaux grape varieties to ripen perfectly, producing muscular, structured wines.
