Winemaker's Notes
Refreshing aromas of Fuji apple and Meyer lemon accompany a pale yellow hue to introduce this crisp, full-bodied chardonnay. The palate excites the senses with mouthfilling flavors of ripe pear kiwi and stone fruits, leading to a citrusy finish accented with orange blossom and balanced acidity.
Harvest
Growing Season
2008 began with a dry spring and early budbreak. Frosts in April significantly lowered cluster count and berry size. Weather stabilized and warmed through summer, allowing a small crop set of high quality fruit to ripen fully and evenly, developing an excellent balance of sugars and acid.
Winemaking
Fruit for this wine was pressed whole cluster; 25% was fermented in barrel and 75% in tank, all using native yeasts. Aged five months in French oak barrels, it was bottled unfined and unfiltered April 2008.
